The story of Jonah and the big fish is the key theme of this piece. Jonah's eventual acceptance of God's plan for him, despite his fear is a powerful message. God protected him when Jonah preached to the city of Nineveh and guided him through his frustration and lack of understanding when the city repented and God did not bring destruction to it. 

It is a reminder that God is gracious and merciful to His children who do not understand his teachings and love. That he his patient with us when we don't understand or willing to accept His will.
